We weren't in the field often and when we were it was cut short due to inclement weather. Jackson is a support based BCT and they treat it that way. You do FTX 1, 2, and 3. You'll ruck out to your site. Ours was 7-miles out. Then we went to our platoon areas and dug fox holes. After that you learn STX lanes, radio comms, how to cross an LDA, 9 line, among some other things I don't quite remember. You'll spend your nights pulling either 30 or 50 percent security. That's either 1 out of 3 or 1 out of 2 people laying in their holes starring into darkness till it's their turn to sleep. Stay awake, or the drill sergeants WILL mess with you. Ours walked around with night vision waiting for you to slip. During FTX3, some guys fell asleep so our entire platoon spent the next 30 minutes low crawling and doing 3 to 5 second rushes. Then finished the next hour off at 100% security. Some nights were fun, they set up infiltration squads to try and steal weapons, gear, anything we could get our hands on from other platoons. You're provided with blanks at night to "defend" your position. FTX 1 and 2 was supposed to be 2 days and 1 night in the field, both got cut short. FTX 3 was conducted during The Forge, a 44-mile ruck over 5 days and 4 nights, and lasted 3 days and 2 nights. The only other time I spent away from the CTA was range days, Victory Tower, Confidence Course, and Fit to Win.

My company has 195 total trainees. Of which, I'd say 170 will graduate. The rest will be recycled or sent to fat camp (sorry, I don't remember what it's actually called). The entire battalion is graduating the 18th. Five companies of about 175 trainees. So roughly 900 graduates.

No, I understand land nav. I found all 5 points in 35ish minutes at basic. Granted it was only 1.5 miles, i understand what to do.
