In holdover status you'll wear the Gold OCS insignia. So when you get here you'll change from your current rank to gold. Once you class up on Monday you'll continue to wear gold until the class enters basic phase at the end of the week when you'll change to black and wear the black ascot.

Do they provide the ascots and gold pins or is that something you need to show up with?

Is it still the case that you buy your white ascot for senior phase but the black ascot is issued?

Yes, you only purchase your white ascot. I believe it's around 16 dollars.

Hello to all. I was just slotted this class a week ago. (Less than 30 days) "Stay ready to keep from getting ready". Im looking for any advice I can get to make inprocessing go as smoothly as possible. What is the timeline? PT test? Uniform? Room Assignment? Documents required, will all of the records uploaded into my OMPF suffice or will I need to print them off and have hard copies? I am currently active duty coming from Fort Bragg TDY and return.

Freedawirl,

Currently here and prior service. PT test will be on class up day, so Dec 4. If I'm not mistaken, since you're in service, you are an automatic slot since you're in-service. If you google ft benning ocs packing list you'll see exactly what you need. If you can get here at least a few days early to do your shopping you'll be good. You need a good chunk of what's actually on that list. Room assignment will change once you get here. You'll be at the holdover bay then the class up bay a few days later. I would bring all your documents you have. It just makes things easier once you're here. Shouldn't be as much of a hassle since you're in-service, but I always just play it safe. Some things you need originals of for stuff like marriage certificate, social, etc. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. What do you mean in terms of time line?

Thanks for the info jas591. What I mean about the timeline is what is the expected turnaround from inprocessing day to PT test to classroom. Is there a week strictly dedicated to inprocessing or is it a one day (paperwork, Ht/wt amd pt test the next day) type of inprocessing or is it a one day for finance, one day for medical type ordeal?

Since you're in service you'll report directly to HHC I believe. You'll take your pt test, and the first week of class is actually just a lot of paperwork from my understanding. Others have done it, so it's for sure doable. Just a little stressful the first week of class as they were all getting smoked. Actual classroom time starts more so in the second week it seems.

I arrived at Fort Benning last night, went to the 30th AG, and sent to prior service HHC. However, when I went to the 30th AG today for the paperwork, they told me that I should have been picked up by the OCS today, but nobody can do anything about it until tomorrow morning. So how should I solve this issue? Does this mean that my OCS date might get changed? Thanks for the help.

Army 101,

I'll shoot you a DM and see if I can get student leadership here to help you out. Tomorrow is a half day. So you'll probably get stuck over there until at least next Monday if you don't get here tomorrow. Start date isn't until Dec 4th, so you're good.

I'm not sure if I'm overlooking something or not, but on the latest packing list from benning.army.mil website doesn't mention any TA-50 items that I know we will be using. For example there is no wet weather gear, cold weather gear, assault pack, FLC, ACH, etc.. For in service candidates like myself, should we just bring everything we have or will they issue it to us when we get there?

Wesleymlinton, I am in the same boat as you however, from my understanding and research every bit of TA-50 will be issued at OCS other than the initial clothing items. These are two references I found:

Will TA-50 be provided in school?

TA-50 will be issued here from CIF.
From the FAQ on the Benning website just posted.

The only reason to bring your own stuff is because you have something you particularly like (eye pro, snivel gear) or because you don't want to clean the issued stuff.

Right after I made that post I checked the FAQ section and found my answer. Thanks.
